About Us

History

Our story begins with a shared conviction:
education shapes both the mind and the soul.

Imago Dei Academy—“image of God” in Latin—was founded in 2007 to offer an educational approach distinct from what was available in the Tularosa Basin. From the beginning, the school has been committed to an education that attends not only to academic knowledge, but also to the formation of character, responsibility, and faith.

Established from its inception as a classical Christian school, Imago Dei Academy is intentionally ordered toward truth and wisdom. Education here is coherent, relational, and formative—shaping how students think, communicate, and live. This commitment continues to guide a Christ-centered, knowledge-rich curriculum and a clear partnership with families.

Over time, Imago Dei Academy has grown in clarity regarding its responsibility to steward the trust placed in it by families. Governed by a Board of Directors and led by an appointed Head of School, the Academy is committed to thoughtful leadership, intentional care, and the faithful formation of students. In partnership with parents, Imago Dei Academy seeks to invest wisely in the lives of children—supporting families as they raise and educate students for the good of the Church, the community, and the Kingdom of God.

Our Philosophy of Education

Education Is Discipleship
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” Proverbs 1:7
Christ at the Center
“In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Colossians 2:3
Students as Image-Bearers
“So God created man in His own image.” Genesis 1:27
Is Imago Dei Academy the Right Place for Your Child?

Choosing a school is a significant decision. We invite families to explore whether a Christ-centered, classical education aligns with their hopes for their child’s growth—academically, spiritually, and personally.
